Over 20 million people participated that year, and Earth Day is now observed on April 22nd each year by more than 500 million people and several national

governments in 175 countries. For reasons unknown, it seems to slip past us in New Zealand - yet we need to acknowledge our great sustainer!

In reality EARTH Day is a decentralized, grassroots effort in which each community shapes their action around local concerns.

With our great sustainer Gaia, Mother Earth under assault by unconscious governments, locked stepped with multinational corporations, the imperative

for Earth citizens (meaning you) from the grass roots-up, is to make our voice, vote and financial choices count as we consciously

choose on behalf of ours and our children's future.

Never before as we see in Japan today, (Fukushima) where we remain on the brink, have we so much responsibility towards our collective future. With climate

change accelerating, we find fewer and fewer people at the top of the pyramid actively controlling our lives, yet our future instead, has to be modelled

from the grass roots up with community sharing, caring and co-operating to shape our common destiny.

Regrettably, here in NZ our Government(s) have no idea whatsoever, of what sustains them and their families, regrettably they have zero 'conscious

connection' to the air they breathe, the water they drink and the food they eat - that all that sustains them, comes from the magnificent ecological

life support systems of our home planet, Mother Earth Gaia, Papatuanuku - truly it's beyond them.

And yet it is Bolivia and Ecuador two developing countries in South America, who today lead the World - not New Zealand!

Bolivia's Mother of all Laws Enshrines Rights of Nature

LA PAZ: Bolivia is set to pass the world's first laws granting nature equal rights to humans. The Law of Mother Earth, now agreed by politicians and

grassroots social groups, redefines the country's rich mineral deposits as ''blessings'' and is expected to bring radical new conservation and social

measures to reduce pollution and control industry.

The country, which has been pilloried by the US and Britain in the United Nations climate talks for demanding steep carbon emission cuts, will establish

11 new rights for nature.
