{"id":2635,"date":"2009-05-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-05-26T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ourplanet.org\/adrian-butler-chairman-of-the-world-fire-safety-foundation\/"},"modified":"2023-05-11T19:20:16","modified_gmt":"2023-05-11T06:20:16","slug":"adrian-butler-chairman-of-the-world-fire-safety-foundation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ourplanet.org\/greenplanetfm\/adrian-butler-chairman-of-the-world-fire-safety-foundation\/","title":{"rendered":"Adrian Butler, Chairman of the World Fire Safety Foundation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Foundation is a non profit global organisation, dedicated to saving lives by exposing the defective nature of the *type* of smoke alarms installed<br \/>\n    in homes around the world and promoting the safe and affordable alternatives.<\/p>\n<p>Overwhelming evidence proves that ionization smoke alarms that use radio active components are not safe because they do not detect smouldering fires,<br \/>\n    the type of fire that commonly kills.<\/p>\n<p>The Foundation's website provides evidence of fire-fighter and scientific testing that exposes the existing flawed standards testing, that has allowed<br \/>\n    ionization smoke alarms to be certified as safe and sold to the public for over forty years.<\/p>\n<p>It is estimated that tens of thousands of people have been injured or killed globally as a direct result of ionization alarms failing to sound a timely<br \/>\n    warning.<\/p>\n<p>Since April 2004 new legislation requires that certain Australian commercial buildings must install photoelectric smoke alarms in all sleeping areas<br \/>\n    and exit paths.
