He is founder and director of the non-profit Community Information Resource Center, which supports community improvement and sustainability efforts. British author David Boyle has called Thomas Greco a "pioneer" in the field of local currencies. Grecos insightful writings are regularly mentioned by alternative currency advocates.

He is a keynote speaker at alternative currency forums around the globe and definitely is a world authority, on both financial issues and for humanity to awaken to the need to become proactive in this field. He has recently toured NZ on speaking engagements.

The key to sustainability in the changing global dynamics is for communities to come together and build networks with business, faith groups, voluntary organisations, schools and the full spectrum of localised community, so as to build a robust system of energy exchange if and when national/global currencies loose value and or credence.

The imperative being, is to have a strategy in place so that localised community can exist as a viable, stable entity, if a sudden downturn was to occur.

His latest book, The End of Money and the Future of Civilization” from Chelsea Green Publishers is now in print.
