Jon Carapiet on our future with GE and GMO's, plus the NZ Food Matters Conference

This is being done whilst our Government and elected servants turn the other way, abandoning the moral imperative and leaving virtually everything to neo-liberal market forces and a compliant mainstream media that also manipulates our minds through unconscious talk show hosts who will never look at the deeper levels of what we are leaving our children and grandchildren.

So this is a warning that New Zealand has gone backwards in terms of regulatory systems and strategic planning. This is as a result of the loss of safeguards established after the Royal Commission on Genetic Modification, including the abolition of the Bio Ethics Council, the termination of the MORST Futurewatch programme, and the failure to update the national biotechnology strategy since 2003.

So what we have now is a deceitful and unethical commercial scheme to erode our supposed clean green image by importing GE food stuffs like soya beans, maize etc so as to feed it to our cows, chickens and possibly pigs, under the guise that in a world of cut throat commercial concerns it is just far more economical to use genetically modified food. Money and profit being the bottom line.

The precautionary approach set out in the Royal Commission back in 2003 has been totally discarded as well as all health concerns for future generations who may eat or drink of localised produce such as meat and milk products as a result of farmers feeding live stock GE and GMO products. This is where we are currently at in New Zealand.

On top of all this we have Monsanto’s diabolical all purpose weed killer Glyphosate.

Glyphosate was patented in the US as an antibiotic, acting against a wide range of  pathogenic organisms. That is why it kills off many beneficial bacteria in the gut of humans and animals and allows toxic ones such as clostridium spp, to prevail.

Glyphosate is used to desiccate crops and those eating foods that are not organic are consuming residues every day in staple foods. The patent was granted to Monsanto US in 2010. Now Glyphosate as an antibiotic is being seen to have  possible links to autism.

During ground preparation in the Spring prior to planting of maize for silage, animals are grazed immediately (within hours) on the pasture that is to be killed (treated as a weed) so it is not just the grass silage that is a source of pesticide in the food chain. It is not necessarily grazed by milking cows but entering the food chain in very high levels (who knows, nobody is testing). Also with the newer products like WeedMaster TS 540 there are increased levels used and other ingredients to intensify the amount and rate of uptake of glyphosate which have not been tested for animal toxicity.

So when we review what challenges lie before us, we realise that it is a must that we have independent scientists and academics, who are not bribed or feel threatened in any way - be it through loss of job opportunities, promotion etc but this is the realty today. There are very few people who will stand up to the corporate machine and put a stake in the ground for virtues and values for our children and grandchildren as well as what has been the hall mark for the old New Zealand way of life.

So when we sum up the situation, New Zealanders are sleep walking there way into a trap, and we have an example of how the corporations don’t give a hoot when we see that labelling of food just never gets to mention the source where it is grown or what process has been used in producing or processing such food. A grand example of this is Anchor milks 3 tiered milk container that does not even mentioned that the milk has been pasteurised or homogenised. Instead they are homogenising you dear reader to become comfortably numb and not to be empowered to be the change you want to see in the world.

This information is a major heads up, especially for NZ mothers who lovingly give of their very being to their babies and children, so that they will be healthy, alert and cared for. And that they are supposed to have a future that allows them to fulfil all of their inner potential and complete a long life of connection, joy and fulfilment.

This GreenplanetFM Interview with Jon Carapiet is wide ranging with Jon, coming through at the end with some optimistic pointers and positives.

This is more than GE and GMO’s it’s about the different high powered chemicals that are used on plants that are resistant to these particular sprays, but allow all other grasses, vegetation and weeds to be killed. This is the case here in NZ where I repeat - that animals are now eating the sprayed dying vegetation, and these animals are producing products, such as milk and meat that is now being consumed by unaware, New Zealanders.

It’s actually a battle against nature through toxic chemical saturation, especially with glyphosate that not only kills all of the targeted plant kingdom, but more so, affect the mega trillions of bacteria and fungi that are pivotal at breaking down the soil and organic matter making this instead, unavailable to the finite roots hairs of every plant.

Over the last few years the biotech Corporations supplying NZ have ramped up the chemicals used as there are now more weeds becoming resistant to the sprays and they have now have had the NZ governmental food standards authorities rubber stamp the use of 2.4D (an extension of Agent Orange) to be used on our farms. And, this has not even been cleared for use in the USA! But when you ask them where the studies are like the maximum residue limit for 2.4D and any other safety studies, like 2.4D & Glyphosate combined? - They have no data and these questions are being swept aside and ignored.

With this happening throughout NZ, this is entrenching a global occurrence as the large corporations flex their muscle and force their way over the top of governments and by default the people inhabiting these countries. - Check out the TPPA the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement to really get an understanding of entrapment.

With the chemicalisation of the biosphere, the effect is that fetuses and babies coming into our world, who by virtue of their smallness soak up all chemicals into an absorbent bloodstream and cellular structure that is still forming, thus embedding these unknown chemicals into their organs with who knows what ailment may eventually emerge?  With allergies and auto immune diseases sky rocketing we have by default left the decision making to a corrupted agenda.

The food corporations are also programming us to believe that they are unable to source GE free ingredients for food like baby formula and are deliberately not making the effort, so as to condition us to eat factory food and not organic produce.

In NZ today, we have contaminated soy being imported, (I have stopped buying over the last 5 years, even organic, because this soy is now so problematic.) We also know that tonnes of it is being given to our cows. An estimated 163,000 tonnes of GE soy has come into NZ from Argentina as cow feed and possibly for both chicken and pig food.

We have increasingly reliable evidence that GE maize known as DDG or dried distillers grain that is an extension of the ethanol fuel industry that was stopped by China from being imported into that country, has found its way onto the NZ market and is $70 a tonne cheaper and that on various farms NZ cows can be eating as much as 4-8 kg per day.

On top of this we have palm kernel expeller, PKE coming in from Indonesia and Malaysia and though not GE it has its own set of problems as to what sprays have been used.

So when it comes to marketing and branding - trust and reputation are imperative - with no authenticity we are allowing certain interests to rip the rug out of NZs brand for clean, safe food, and our overseas markets will soon be warily looking at NZ farming practices of this present time. Note that our butter, milk powder and cheeses can be tested overseas for GE residues and if they show up in our food over there, we will have our dairy product exports nose dive overnight, especially in China.

Many of us in NZ want an ethical, sustainable, clean green, safe food producer and tourist destination, that has embedded in it a community with values and ethics and a welcoming haremai and what everything Aotearoa at heart stands for. This is what we must defend, as it is our future and that farming is definitely the backbone of our economy. Feeding nutritional food to humanity is our strength. NZ being another metaphorical bread basket and food producer for humanity, and not instead end up as a basket case due to unethical practices.

Following this unethical path will have the management of the Federated Farmers and Fonterra  come under increasing scrutiny like never before. Farmers across NZ, who have always been wary of the big boys, will be outraged when they find that they have been betrayed, by science that has been censored.

As farmers working on the land, by far the majority do not want to de-nature food.

This leads to the Food Matters Conference here in Wellington at Te Papa with some of our planets top experts on food, GE and GMO’s and chemicals who are going to be presenting.

Vandana Shiva a global leader, has recently written a book stating that the so called Green revolution has not produced what the hype has glorified and in fact that it has chemicalised and degraded the soil, food and our health. Her books The Violence of the Green Revolution and Monocultures of the Mind pose essential challenges to the dominant paradigm of non-sustainable, industrial agriculture. Through her books Biopiracy, Stolen Harvest and Water Wars, Dr. Shiva has made visible the social, economic and ecological costs of corporate-led globalisation.

Emeritus Professor Don Hubers’ worked at Purdue University in soil science. Huber is an internationally recognized expert on nutrient-disease interactions. As a military scientist, in earlier years he researched the impact of nuclear warfare, later the impact of fallout on agriculture.

In February 2011 this extremely conservative and internationally respected soil scientist, wrote a letter to Tom Vilsack the US Secretary of Agriculture. He didn’t mean for the letter to be leaked by the USDA but this happened, and the letter became public. In it described the worrying growth of an organism, a pathogen that is significantly impacting the health of plants, animals and possibly human beings.  He wrote that this pathogen was identified in much higher quantities on Roundup ready soybeans and corn, querying a link with the RR gene or with the presence of Roundup, or glyphosate.  The pathogen was found in high concentrations in Roundup Ready soybean meal and corn, distillers meal, fermentation feed products, pig stomach contents, and pig and cattle placentas.

Veterinarians were coming to Professor Huber because the laboratory tests confirmed that this organism was in a wide variety of livestock experiencing spontaneous abortions and infertility, and it was somehow connected to the feed source.

Gilles-Éric Séralini is a French scientist who has been a professor of molecular biology at the University of Caen since 1991. He is best known for publishing research concluding that genetically modified food is unsafe for consumption; one such study, published in September 2012 in Food and Chemical Toxicology prompted many headlines about the dangers of Roundup Ready corn and the Roundup herbicide.

The study was subject to considerable criticism by members of the scientific community and was eventually retracted in what has become known as the Seralini affair. However on June 24, 2014 the study was found to be so compelling it was republished by Environmental Sciences Europe, because there is so much substance to his findings. Basically rats fed on GE and GMO food, quickly become diseased.

*** NOTE: that science steadfastly refuses to tests rats in a laboratory eating GE and GMO food, for up to 10 generations, because the rats never make it, not even 5 generations! ***

In this interview, Jon emphases that these people who are visiting us for the food conference are dedicated to people, communities and our biosphere, they are not here for service to self.

He wants NZ to become a voice for our planet as seed savers, heritage and heirloom organic seeds and be a repository of vital, fertile organic seeds.

Whereas GE penetrates our food supply, our seed base, our bodies and our planet that we are an experiment that is in action … because we have been hijacked by an exceptionally powerful technology that will if the precautionary approach is not heeded, overrun us.

Crimes against humanity terminator seeds and seeds that have been modified to germinate only when fertilised with certain patented chemicals, goes against the grain of natural forces, as well as community interests of the global commons.

Marketing of NZ for a clean green and inspirational food from NZ is where our countries destiny beckons us.

Jon encourages us to have the conversation over the dinner table, get educated, become learned get savvy and shape our children’s future from a benevolent perspective.

AUCKLAND TALK.

February 19th
7.30pm
Rutherford Room
Alexandra Park - Epsom - Auckland

Our Farms our Food our Future!
Come to an evening with :-
Prof. Gilles-Eric Séralini and Jérôme Douzelet and Dr. Vandana Shiva

Gilles-Eric Séralini and Jérôme Douzelet’s talk on - Culinary pleasures or hidden poisons? - A dialogue between a chef and a scientist, each will reveal their experiences with the health problems that chemically grown food can generate and the creation of a joyful, natural, and organic cuisine, full of flavour, colour, and texture, in harmony with biodiversity and health – in line with the sense of the word - restaurateur - as one who restores health.

Dr Vandana Shiva’s talk on - Preserving seed integrity and food sovereignty - will focus on seed preservation. Seed is the first link in the food chain and is the ultimate symbol of food security. She will discuss how new technologies developed in the green revolution and biotechnologies, devalue the cultural and traditional knowledge embodied in the seed, and erode the holistic knowledge of the seed from the community. This results in the seed knowledge, integrity and diversity becoming extinct.

You can also attend the Wellington conference - with 12 awesome speakers;
