But “Do not give up - we can never give up!”
Forty years of calling out climate
change and what we are doing to our planet - he's now very emotionally charged, because we the public have been lied to by the fossil fuel industry,
just like the cigarette industry before that, when both industries knew that there huge problems relating to their product, especially with global
warming - and as far back as the early 1990’s.
He states now that we have entered the Death Zone - that there are multiple tipping points that we have passed over - that we must not give up in despair
- not become disheartened - no matter what!
50 thousand species are becoming extinct a year. But, where is the media? They don’t mention this, but if the NZ dollar goes up a few percentage points
or down a few percentage points it’s splashed over the front page and on TV.
He states that we have to disentangle from the global economy, produce our own food and clothing and localise more.
So as a 74 years old (then) - now 80 years old - he has nothing to lose - all he wants to say to his children and grandchildren when they gather around
his death bed is … I did my best.
