A Shift To Biological Agriculture

There is a huge shift happening across the farming sector of South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Biological farming is becoming more known as farmers,
wanting healthier animals, crops and soils, look to do away with chemical dependency and start to see the benefits of minerals - the bacteria, fungi
and earthworms of the soil - coupled to a more open mind and a readiness to question more.

Dr Arden Andersen, from the US, said he went to university to understand soil, its nutritional value and balance, then to animals and health, finally to
humans and our health. Which he calls biological and holistic medicine and that everything is connected within the web of life.

He emphasizes that we must look at our human gut microflora, if we use antibiotics we will kill off all the good guys, so it is with what we do on the
farm with our soil. Heavy fertiliser usage is unbalancing the earth and destroying both the bacteria and fungi - all the way to the cow manure, that
does not break down as fast, due in many cases, to the use of antibiotics!

Between Arden Andersen of the USA, New
Zealander Graeme Sait, and Christine Jones of Australia they are revolutionising NZ agriculture and horticulture including the health of the whole country.  I have interviewed all three
on GreenplanetFM.

As of mid 2016 there is definitely a shift both within the farming and horticulture sector here in NZ. There is an increasing uptake as farmers are witnessing
the increase in both production and the health of the soil, in animals and that will soon be registering in the overall health of New Zealanders.
